Hello, my name is Kristal Dunn and I help guide people through change they desire. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. My career began in 2006 and since then I have worked in a variety of settings including residential treatment centers, inpatient behavioral health hospital, and outpatient settings. My positions as case manager and therapist in these settings have provided me with the experience to work with different needs, cultures, and personalities. More specifically, I help people find solutions within them to their most troubling issues in a safe and unbiased environment.
From a young age I have known I wanted to help people. That thought evolved from wanting to be a doctor, to attorney, to therapist. Providing therapy turned out to be a natural ability while also giving me the challenge I thrive from. I have a history of trauma, anxiety, depression that take constant work. This personal experience aids my understanding of what it is like to go through the therapy process. I have found it integral to be authentic in my professional relationships with clients, support and educate, keep an open mind, and maintain a client centered foundation while also pushing against resistance when needed. I understand change is difficult and together we can get you through the change you desire.
My passion lies in working with individuals with anxiety, trauma, and life change struggles. However, I am skilled in working with a variety of matters. It is best to complete a phone consultation with me to see that we are a match of needs and skill plus personality styles.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have adult children and young grandkids I see as often as able. I take advantage of the beautiful bike trails when out at the parks. Hot baths, movies, and painting when inside. Admittedly, I also enjoy reading updated information related to therapy and human connections. For self-care I do the above plus talk to my support, see my own therapist, eat comfort food, drink coffee, tea, and plenty of water. Most important, I allow myself to be human and experience the wide range of emotions that naturally come over me.
